BOSTON and DENVER, March 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Indigenous Early Learning Collaborative (IELC) Institute, led by First Light Education Project (Denver, CO) and Brazelton Touchpoints Center (BTC) (Boston, MA), announces two open-access dialogues available to the public.
American Indian Culture and Research Journal (AICRJ) Symposium Dialogues
In May 2024, the IELC Institute published a special issue on Community-Based Inquiry (CBI) in AICRJ, collectively documenting the possibilities when Indigenous communities have the space and support to ask their own questions of practice and pursue answers from within their communities. In November 2024, the IELC Institute brought authors together at UCLA for a symposium focused on the development and impact of the work, and the interdisciplinary potential of CBI.
These AICRJ Symposium Dialogues are now available on the IELC Institute website. The full AICRJ special issue is available as an open-access publication here.
Community of Practice in Indigenous Early Learning (CoPIEL) Dialogue Series
On Friday, March 28 (2 PM Central Time), a webinar, Wicoie Nandagikendan: Revitalizing Community, Our Journey Story, will focus on the work of Wicoie Nandagikendan, a Dakota and Ojibwe language immersion program in Minneapolis, Minnesota, exploring their use of CBI and visionary planning to inform decision-making, serve children and families, and revitalize language and cultural practices.

Dr. Tarajean Yazzie-Mintz, Director of the IELC Institute: "Dialogue is a powerful, effective, and Indigenous way to share knowledge and discover insights. We invite parents, families, teachers, educators, those with an interest in Indigenous early learning, and those who may want to invest in this important work in Native communities, to join us for these dialogues. They are all free and open-access — an intentional act to make this knowledge accessible to as many people as possible."
Dr. Joshua Sparrow, Executive Director of BTC: "The IELC Institute continues to expand the ways in which we share knowledge and connect with people around the world. This work carries powerful lessons for families, communities, and practitioners working to improve early childhood education in Indigenous communities."
