• Pause three seconds for dignity. Wait before answering any question - from "What do you want for lunch?" to "Will you accept [e.g. three times your normal rate]" to "Will you marry me?" Waiting makes you appear more thoughtful, and also gives your brain time to formulate a powerful response.
