The Jacob Fuchsberg Law Firm Will Bring Together 9/11 Survivors To Share Important Information Regarding The Victim Compensation Fund
Over 100 injured persons will gather on June 10th to hear about the bipartisan effort of Senate and House lawmakers to address the problem that only a fraction of the awards are being paid under the present Victim Compensation Fund
NEW YORK, June 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Jacob Fuchsberg Law Firm announced today that it will hold a meeting on June 10th for individuals whom they currently represent, who have suffered injuries and/or illnesses as a result of 9/11, and have made claims under the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund. These individuals range from first responders, to those involved in the cleanup and aftermath of 9/11, to office workers near Ground Zero, who were exposed to the acrid fumes. Attorneys from the Firm will address the status of the victims' claims, the current compensation available to these individuals, and the prospects for future recovery.
Dr. Jim Melius, the chair of the steering committee for the WTC Responder Medical Program, as well as a Citizens for the Extension of the James Zadroga Act board member, will discuss the current bi-partisan effort of Senate and House lawmakers to reauthorize the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, which provides for the Victim Compensation Fund. Among other things, the goal of this group is to have the Fund extended indefinitely and to make compensation more complete for the people who were injured or developed illnesses due to the 9-11 attack.
"We are at a critical juncture with respect to the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act," explains Alan Fuchsberg, a partner with the Jacob Fuchsberg Law Firm, who represents over 400 survivors. "If the Act is reauthorized, our clients may get the full compensation that they deserve. If it is not, they stand to receive less than 50% of their actual awards. We look forward to discussing these issues on Wednesday and to offering our clients an in-depth view of the current political climate that may affect their claims."
