The Jewish Education Project Announces 2013 Young Pioneers Award Recipients
Five educators have been chosen who are redefining how Judaism is taught, learned, and lived
NEW YORK, April 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Jewish Education Project has announced that five educators who are redefining how Judaism is taught, learned, and lived will receive The Jewish Education Project 2013 Young Pioneers Award. These innovative educators are breathing new life into age old traditions by incorporating social media and technology in Day School education, using music and rhythm to bring Judaic stories to life, and teaching children how to live their Judaism inside and outside the synagogue. Other examples of innovation include developing the only Jewish Montessori program in New York, and rejuvenating youth groups through volunteerism.
In recognition of their remarkable accomplishments, Rabbi Michael Bitton of Magen David Yeshivah High School, Shmueli Perkel of Musical IQ, Hannah Kass of B'nai Jeshurun, Bryna Leider of Luria Academy, and Andrew Fretwell of Young Judaea have each been selected to receive the 2013 Young Pioneers Award. They will be honored at a Celebration to benefit The Jewish Education Project held at the Museum of Jewish Heritage on June 4th, 2013 at 6:45 pm.
"We are committed to exploring new ways to educate and engage Jewish children and teens", says Robert Sherman, CEO of The Jewish Education Project. "The Young Pioneers Award shines a spotlight on Jewish educators who bring Judaism to life for today's Jewish families. I am inspired by the work they do every day."
The award recipients will receive a $360 Professional Development stipend, be recognized at the Celebration Benefit, and receive tickets to the 4th Annual Jewish Futures Conference titled "Whose Torah is it Anyway?", hosted by The Jewish Education Project.
"Musical IQ is proud and excited to be recognized by the Young Pioneers Award. It is with great honor that we receive this award and we look forward to continue taking strides to develop meaningful programs and to positively impact students", says Shmueli Perkel.
