From the hands of Ruben Guerra, President of the "LBA", Jesus Vizcarra received the "2011 Chairman's Award," which is bestowed annually on an outstanding Latin businessman.
In his remarks, Jesus Vizcarra recalled how 43 years ago his parents started a very modest business, and with dedication and work, "today we can proudly say that SuKarne is a solid company that just keeps on growing," he affirmed.
With billing of nearly $2 billion dollars this year, and international trade of $1 billion (for beef, pork and chicken) with the United States and other countries on four continents, SuKarne is today the principal Mexican importer and exporter in this industry.
Convinced that one way of contributing socially is by creating jobs, but also dedicating part of his time to serving others, in 2003 Jesus Vizcarra founded Salud Digna, with a focus on early diagnosis and prevention, especially geared towards the three diseases that most trouble the quality of life: Diabetes, Cancer and Hypertension, while endeavoring to orient health policy throughout the world more towards preventing rather than curing disease.
On an evening when Salud Digna was also to receive an award as an enterprise dedicated to social welfare, and 35 soldiers of Latin origin were to be honored as part of the celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the "Latin Business Association", Vizcarra announced the upcoming opening of Salud Digna's first clinic in the U.S., located in Huntington Park. This clinic is to be added to the other 19 already in operation in Mexico, which together this year will provide care for more than one million patients, with projected growth for 2012 above 60%, using a model that has been recognized as a case study at Harvard Business School and at Mexico's IPADE.
- SuKarne, a Mexican company founded in 1969, is now one of the largest companies in Mexico, and one of the most outstanding in the production and sale of animal protein at the global level. At present, SuKarne and the companies of Jesus Vizcarra Calderon generate more than 7,000 direct jobs, with a presence on four continents reaching some 40 thousand customers, and operations with companies in 18 countries, while their productive chain includes more than 80,000 agricultural and livestock suppliers. In addition to being the biggest producer, importer and seller in Mexico, at the same time SuKarne is the biggest exporter of meat in the country, accounting for 76% of all meat exports, while it is also the main provider of self-service stores in Mexico.
