The Lifting As We Climb Foundation & The Powell Foundation Present The 2013 Presidential Inauguration "Enduring Legacy" Ball
WASHINGTON, Jan. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of the 2nd inauguration of President Barack Obama, The Lifting As We Climb Foundation (LAWCF) and The Powell Foundation cordially invite you to an elegant "Party with a Purpose" located in the beautiful ballrooms of the Holiday Inn-Washington Capitol in downtown southwest Washington D.C. on Monday, January 21st, 2013. The "Enduring Legacy" Inaugural Ball is being held not only to honor the historic re-election of our 44th President, but also to benefit underprivileged youth as 100% of the event's proceeds will be used to support The LAWCF "Sound Mind, Sound Body"™ After-School Mentoring & Tutoring Program and The Powell Foundation's youth-oriented philanthropy.
The semi-formal (black-tie preferred) evening hosted by Al-Tony Gilmore, Gregory Pratt, Leonard Powell, and Theodore Palmer promises to be truly distinguished; with two stylish ballrooms, one catered to the interests of contemporary young-professionals and the other refined to the comforts of the more established, this event aims to unite all generations inspired by the ideals championed by President Obama and furthered by charitable organizations like The Lifting As We Climb and Powell Foundations.
In addition to multiple interactive entertainment rooms, the Inaugural Ball will feature a live jazz band, as well as MTV/Power 105.1 celebrity DJ to the stars DJ Envy and New York's very own DJ Precise. The ticket price also includes an elaborate reception style buffet, a full hosted bar of spirits, domestic and imported beers, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Multiple bar and carving stations will be set up throughout the event site to make for a glamorous evening full of fun, food, and entertainment for mature socialites representing Gen-X, Baby Boomer, and everyone in between.
As well as providing an opportunity to mingle with esteemed professionals from a variety of industries, this occasion will serve as a means to contribute to a worthy cause by supporting – through attendance, donation, or both – organizations that instill hope in our nation's less-fortunate youth. Currently, only 47% of black males in the United States graduate from high school. This unsettling epidemic is precisely what The LAWCF and Powell foundations aim to combat. LAWCF partners with NFL stars such as Vernon Davis (49ers), Vontae Davis (Colts), Kevin Vickerson (Broncos) plus many others to help deliver positive messages to youth. Other LAWCF programs have assisted under-represented youth through the provision of college scholarships, after-school tutoring, mentoring, and educational workshops which inform underprivileged males ages 13 – 18 about the dangers that plague their communities (Substance Abuse Prevention, Conflict Resolution, STD/AIDS Awareness, Nutrition & Healthy Eating; Goal-Setting; College & Career Planning, etc.).
Come attend what promises to be a truly unique, lavish, and memorable evening; and in doing so, do your part to help leave an enduring legacy of support for those that need it most.
