LITCHFIELD BEACH, S.C., June 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Litchfield Company Real Estate and Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort have reached an agreement that will merge the two companies back together after over 30 years of operating as separately owned entities.
The newly formed Litchfield Company will now offer real estate sales, marketing, on-site vacation rentals, long-term rentals and real estate development out of The Litchfield Company's current facility located at the entrance gate to Litchfield By The Sea.
Originally founded in 1956 by Foster McKissick, The Litchfield Company has developed and sold highly amenitized resort communities in the Waccamaw Neck area including Litchfield By The Sea, Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort, Willbrook, The River Club, The Reserve at Litchfield, The Reserve Harbor Marina, Clubhouse Creek, Inlet Point, Inlet Point South, and Peninsula. Today, The Litchfield Company is the largest real estate brokerage company along the Waccamaw Neck with over 600 listings and over $120 million in sales in 2014.
In December 1990, The Litchfield Company sold Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort to the Myrtle Beach National Company, thus separating the vacation rental marketing and management function of the company from real estate sales and development. Merger discussions between the companies have been underway for several years as each recognized the synergies and marketing power of a combined entity.
Royce King will remain Broker In Charge for the new entity and continue his responsibilities for real estate sales and development. Bill Baldree, who will become a partner in the new company, will assume responsibility over vacation rental management. Mr. Baldree is the current owner and operator of Beach Vacations, a very successful vacation rental management firm operating along the Grand Strand.
