The Louisiana Startup Prize Launches: The Most Amazing Entrepreneurial Competition on the Planet
$70,000 Startup Competition and Educational program announces registration for Qualifying Events is now open.
SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, La., March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Louisiana Startup Prize's Executive Director Gregory Kallenberg officially rang the bell and opened registration for the $70,000 Louisiana Startup Prize.
The La. Startup Prize (www.LaStartupPrize.com) is a unique concept that energizes and incentivizes local, regional and national entrepreneurs who have a new business or want to start one. The Startup Prize's goal is to evolve businesses through a series of Qualifying Events – consisting of keynotes, panels mentor sessions and a $1,000 mini-competition. While the entrepreneurs will ultimately be competing to be a part of the Final Round and winning a Grand Prize of $25,000 cash and over $45,000 of in-kind services (from accounting and law firms, creative agencies, and free office space), they will also most be vying for potential investment dollars from the Investor Judges. Entrepreneurs must attend at least one of three Qualifying Events (April 17-19, May 29-31, July 17-19) in Shreveport-Bossier to be eligible for the final round of the competition. Although attendance at all three events is not required, it is highly recommended.
Kallenberg also announced the Startup Prize's new, presenting partnership with the Biomedical Research Foundation's Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program. The EAP will aid in the vetting and evolving of the Startup Prize's entrepreneurs.
David Smith, Executive Director of the Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program stated that educational programs for new investors and entrepreneurs are imperative to growing and sustaining an entrepreneurial ecosystem.
"A lot of people have an idea but putting that idea into action is the tough part," said Smith. "It is a lot of work to turn an idea into reality. The Startup Prize introduces entrepreneurs to the process during its competition, while the EAP provides its expertise and experience to help entrepreneurs navigate that process."
The Startup Prize is one of the largest entrepreneurial gatherings in northwest Louisiana, offering educational, networking and investment opportunities to help usher in a new age of entrepreneurship in the area.
"We are well on our way to becoming one of the more important entrepreneurial competitions in the United States," said Kallenberg. "We are committed to taking the Startup Prize to the next level and delivering up an amazing opportunity to entrepreneurs everywhere."
