The Lozano Law Firm, PLLC Embarks on Mission to Educate Public on Impact of Presidential Executive Actions on Immigration, Schedules Free Conferences in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, Dec. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lozano Law Firm, PLLC has announced a series of free, educational conferences to discuss President Obama's recent set of executive actions on immigration. An initiative of the firm's founder and principal attorney Alfredo Lozano, the first of these conferences is slated for 1 pm on December 13 at San Antonio's Centro Cristiano International. Lozano explained that adults who potentially qualify for DAPA – Deferred Action for Parental Accountability – represent the target audience for these conferences.
"Our goal with these conferences is to give people all the information they need to make the most of Obama's executive orders," remarked Lozano. "We can help with visa petitions, motions and appeals. When clients understand every aspect of the process and know what to expect, the stress factor is significantly reduced, and successful outcomes typically follow."
On November 20, 2014, President Obama signed executive actions – known as accion ejecutiva within Spanish-speaking communities – as part of fixing the nation's broken immigration system. Among these actions was the creation of the DAPA program, which will enable undocumented people with children who are lawful permanent residents or citizens to apply for work authorization. More generally, Obama's executive actions will modernize and streamline the entire immigration infrastructure.
A successful DAPA application shields the parent from deportation proceedings. To be eligible, the applicant must have been residing in the US since January 1, 2010; the executive order could affect as many as 4.1 million people. The government expects to begin accepting applications as early as spring 2015.
Lozano added: "One point that cannot be stressed highly enough is that people should only receive advice from qualified immigration lawyers, whether concerning the new executive orders or related topics. These professionals will always put their clients' interests first and have hands-on experience in the field."
Education is the lynchpin of The Lozano Law Firm's mission of providing cost effective immigration solutions to all of its clients. The firm works on behalf of individuals, families, small businesses and large corporations. Likewise, the firm handles all manner of immigration-related issues and procedures – family visas, foreign worker status, citizenship applications, investment law and deportation defense.
Lozano contends that having a dedicated and experienced advocate on one's side is the surest way to save time, money and stress. As a Board-certified immigration lawyer, Lozano travels several times a year to Mexico for consultations with businesses and investors. He understands the challenges but more importantly the opportunities that President Obama has just created.
Additional conferences are scheduled for January through March on a semi-weekly basis. With San Antonio being such a hub for immigration throughout the Southwest, Lozano expects large crowds at each conference. And with the bulk of the new executive actions rolling out in the next 3 to 6 months, now is clearly the time to learn how they will impact people's lives.
