The MedMen Obtain Special Use Permit for a Medical Marijuana Dispensary in Unincorporated Clark County, Nevada
Consulting and Management Firm Secures Permit in the Country's Most Competitive State to Date
LAS VEGAS, June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The MedMen, the first and largest full-service consulting and management group focused on the Marijuana Industry, was among the 18 to obtain a Special Use Permit to open a Medical Marijuana Dispensary in unincorporated Clark County, Nevada. The process of obtaining permits in Clark County has been the most competitive in the nation's history, with 90 applicants competing for only 18 spots. After County Commissioners oversaw three intense days of public hearings where all applicants were allowed to present their cases in front of the Commissioners, The MedMen of Nevada, helmed by client Kathy Gillespie of A&B Printing, was approved in the most competitive township in Clark County with support of 6 out of 7 commissioners.
The MedMen has worked diligently with Gillespie and her group since August of 2013 to ensure that the group would have the highest chance of success in the local and state application processes. Special Use Permits were given out based upon the merits of the team members and the proposed Medical Marijuana Dispensaries. Gillespie's group of successful businesspeople includes Barbara Allen, Carrie and Cary Richardson, James Green, David Thomas, Duke Fu, Dawn McAuliffe, Dominick Prudenti, and Ted Green. The next step for the group will be to go through a nearly identical process in Clark County to receive Special Use Permits for Cultivation and Production.
The MedMen is currently working on 28 Medical Marijuana Establishment applications throughout the State of Nevada and is optimistic toward success when the state announces who will be licensed by November of this year. Meanwhile, in addition to the 100+ businesses around the country that The MedMen have helped to open, the company is currently working with eight clients in Illinois as they prepare for applications to be released later this year. The MedMen is also looking toward Florida as the state approaches a vote on broader marijuana legislation in November, with many optimistic based on early polls that the voters will approve a Medical Marijuana ballot measure.
