The Miles Foundation Supports First-Ever Presidential Leadership Scholars Program
Miles Foundation helps launch first-of-its-kind partnership between four presidential centers
FORT WORTH, Texas, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Miles Foundation is proud to announce its support of the Presidential Leadership Scholars program, a first-of-its-kind partnership between four presidential centers: the George W. Bush Presidential Center, the Clinton Foundation, the George Bush Presidential Library Foundation, and the Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation.
The Presidential Leadership Scholars program will teach practical leadership skills to highly motivated leaders through an unprecedented collection of resources and faculty. The Miles Foundation is joined by the Moody Foundation and the W.W. Caruth, Jr. Foundation at Communities Foundation of Texas in support of the program.
The robust, leadership-focused curriculum of the Presidential Leadership Scholars program has been meticulously vetted by respected academics, representatives from each affiliated presidential center, and key administration officials. The inaugural class of 2015 will commence the 100-hour, six-month course schedule with an intensive four-day training program addressing the fundamentals of leadership. Four weekend classes subsequently will be held at each of the participating Presidential centers, followed by a multi-day closing session and graduation ceremony.
"We are extremely excited to be a part of this historic leadership program," said Grant Coates, President and CEO of The Miles Foundation. "It is an amazing opportunity to ignite, inform, and equip the next generation of civic leaders in this country."
The Presidential Leadership Scholars program also intends to foster a thriving alumni community of principled and solution-oriented leaders that will stay connected to the program, maintain relationships with one another, and network with each year's incoming and graduating classes.
"The promise of the Presidential Leadership Scholars program is the development of a community of world-class leaders for the future," said Jay McCall, Senior Programs Officer for The Miles Foundation. "We are honored to play a role in such an impactful program."
Margaret Spellings, President of the George W. Bush Presidential Center said, "We appreciate the generous support of the Miles Foundation in helping us stand up the Presidential Leadership Scholars program, which will train highly motivated people with a track record of leadership from across all sectors and backgrounds – business, the public sector, nonprofit, military, academia – to apply the lessons, principles and ideas they learn through the program to the complex opportunities and challenges that lie before them."
