Not only does her unique approach allow the individual to learn and apply new skills in the context of real life, it provides them and their families with the support they need to lower relapse rates, hospital admissions, and longer-term consequences stemming from prolonged periods of being symptomatic. Part of her model includes the option of having an in-home coach who can come be with clients anywhere from 1 hour all the way up to 24 hours a day to help them navigate their struggles in real time and implement the solutions of their treatment team.
Treatment centers around the nation provide a great place to start the process of recovery. Life, however, doesn't happen in a treatment center and individuals are given 24 hour support and sheltered from many of their triggers. When they return home, they have all of their familiar triggers and none of the support. In addition, their families have not received the intensive level of care as their loved one and are not naturally equipped with the knowledge, skills, and support required to help their struggling family member be successful in that environment.
