She has adopted kids off of the street, brought them into her home, provided them with an education, employed them, and she has been a steady hand to guide them as they grow from juveniles to rejuvenators while working in her business.
April believes that "beneath our circumstances, everyone must discover their own inner substance and use it to rise above the obstacles around them to reach their highest potential." This belief alone is why April has taken the warehouse that she uses for her 911 Restoration Baltimore business and also uses it to sponsor the local marching band that didn't have enough space of their own to practice.
"There are only three community recreation centers still operating in the Baltimore area," says April, "and that's why we opened up our warehouse to the marching band, and we opened up our hearts to the kids of this great community who truly need our help." April and her husband Donald, who jointly run their Restoration business, have played off of this name for their outreach organization which is called "Second Chance Restoration" and aims to unburden the youth of the Baltimore area so that they can achieve their true potential, especially during times of chaos like the present.
Beyond helping the marching band, starting food drives, clothing drives, and offering assistance with classes through tutoring, the organization also has plans to expand into other major cities as well. By intercepting underprivileged youth early, Second Chance Restoration gives kids an opportunity to rise above their surroundings. With a fresh start, and an infusion of confidence, the youth that April and her organization save can then go on to help others, perpetuating the cycle.
911 Restoration provides a fresh start to property owners throughout the country who have experienced disaster in one form or another. Restoration doesn't mean simply saving homes, it also means saving the American Dream.
