Dr. Sam Rizk Introduces a New Approach to Tissue Entry and Fixation—Without Traditional "Cabling" Sutures

NEW YORK, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Double Board-Certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Sam Rizk, MD, FACS, has introduced a novel modification to the deep plane facelift focused on how tissues are entered and secured, with the goal of improving the durability of results while supporting a more efficient recovery.

Dr. Rizk's surgical technique was first demonstrated live at the prestigious 2025 Baker Gordon Symposium, one of the field's leading forums for live surgical education. Following the response to his presentation, Dr. Rizk was invited to return in 2026 to demonstrate the technique again, making him the first facial plastic surgeon to be re-invited to the symposium for a second live facial surgery demonstration. Rather than relying on traditional cable-like suture configurations, Dr. Rizk's technique modifies the entry point into the deep plane and uses non-cable suturing to secure repositioned tissues. According to Dr. Rizk, this may help address one of the challenges of maintaining a facelift over time: sutures that can stretch with facial movement and gradually release the tissues they are intended to hold.
