The One World Doll Project Introduces "Prettie Girls!™" a New Line of Multi-Cultural Dolls by World-Renowned Designer Formerly With Mattel
Sophia is a commemorative Obama 2012 collectors doll available for pre-sale now
HOUSTON, April 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Stacey McBride-Irby created the most diverse cultural line of dolls ever sold by the world's premier toy company, Mattel. In her 15 years at Mattel, McBride-Irby designed and created countless fashions and concepts for the iconic Barbie® line. Most notably, McBride-Irby created an entire new line for the company, the So In Style™ dolls, the first African-American Barbie Dolls by Mattel that more closely represented contemporary girls and young women in the diverse and dynamic urban community.
Now she is using her love of doll making and design to create a totally unique, African American-owned doll company called The One World Doll Project, Inc.
"The One World Doll Project is a dream come true for me as a doll designer, a mother and a woman of color," said McBride-Irby. "Being able to fill the void in play that exists for those who are under-represented by doll-makers is a huge responsibility – one that I take on with joy and pride!"
To celebrate the "one world" ideals ushered in by the Obama administration in 2008 and to commemorate the historical president's run for re-election in 2012, The One World Doll Project introduces Sophia, the first doll in the company's new line of "Prettie Girls!" Sophia stands 11.5 inches high, is a campaign volunteer, very active in her community and is rallying around Obama's vision to "Win the Future!"
Unlike the Prettie Girls! fashion dolls for play that will be introduced early next year for the online retail segment, Sophia will be introduced as a Classic Edition Collectors Doll, in two styles: Casual, "Sophia Loves Her President" - ready for the campaign trail in her Love Obama 2012 t-shirt, stylish cuffed capri jeans and trendy stiletto heels; and Formal, "Sophia at the White House Ball" ready for the event with a beautiful electric royal blue gown, trimmed in sparkling silver, accented by encrusted jewels and garnet stones. Both dolls will be offered for $49.95 each and are available for pre-sale on the company's website at www.obama2012dolls.com and will be ready just in time for Christmas 2011.
There also will be 2,012 Signature Edition Collectors Dolls available, each with a unique number, certificate of authenticity, and hand-signed by Stacey McBride-Irby. The Signature Edition Collectors Sophia dolls, in both Casual and Formal, will retail for $149.95 each and also are available for pre-sale today.
The One World Doll Project is Houston-based and the brainchild of Trent T. Daniel, entrepreneurial success trainer, author and "activational" speaker. Daniel and McBride-Irby are joined by Joanne Melton, former Chase bank executive and 22-year banking veteran, Bettie DeBruhl, former public relations senior vice president of the largest ad agency in Houston, and Sarah Daniel, entrepreneur, creative writer and life coach. The mission of the company is to revolutionize the way mainstream dolls are designed, marketed and integrated into the fabric of America. The One World Doll Project promises to make one of the most significant positive cultural impacts on play and in the doll category in recent history.
