The Palace Group Brings Luxury Senior Living to Downtown Coral Gables, Redefining Retirement and Urban Life in South Florida
MIAMI, Aug. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Palace Group, a leading provider of senior housing and care, has officially opened The Palace at Coral Gables, a luxury retirement community overlooking the city's famous Miracle Mile, forever changing the urban landscape in South Florida and how communities view and treat seniors.
"This is thought to be the most unique senior living community of its kind to be built in Florida and perhaps the country," said Jacob Shaham, CEO of The Palace Group.
The Palace at Coral Gables, One Andalusia Ave., is located in the heart of the city, just blocks from restaurants, shops and theaters. The nine-story tower offers residents a full-service community with more than 100 monthly activities, a pool; 24-hour security; salon, gym with personal training; medical care and more, plus all the benefits of living in a city.
The Palace (www.palacecoralgables.com) features 243 studio, one- and two-bedroom residences for independent living and a separate floor for assisted living with special services and care. The residences feature many details found in high-end condominiums with universal design features for people aging in place including lever faucets, roll-out shelves, induction cooktops, and walk-in tubs.
Shaham and his wife Helen, founders of The Palace Group, have drawn on more than 30 years of experience in development and management of senior communities and committed over five years to the planning and development of The Palace at Coral Gables. The community is a public-private partnership with the City of Coral Gables, which awarded the company a 99-year land lease with the provision that it build a public parking garage.
Inspired by the world-renown George V Hotel in Paris, the Palace development team took painstaking efforts and expense to recreate its luxury and ambiance while never losing sight of resident-centered care and service. The development team includes Fullerton Group Architects; interior design specialists, Howard DeArmas Design Group; and Coastal Construction.
The building's facade is highlighted by a meticulously crafted copper roof dome recalling the architecture of the Spanish baroque period found in other buildings in Coral Gables. A Passeo-walkway connects the building to the city's urban center. Pedestrian traffic flows under covered loggias on the ground floor and the enclosed first-floor swimming pool goes undetected.
"As the first new luxury community built in a major South Florida urban location, the Palace community stands alone," Shaham said.
