The Power Of Style: Verdura At 75 Now Open On Saturdays For The Holiday Season

WHAT: 

For the Holiday season, The Power of Style: Verdura at 75, a rare, retrospective exhibition and glimpse into the world of Master Jeweler, Fulco di Verdura, is now open on Saturdays through December 23.  The Power of Style, the most important retrospective exhibition in the history of the company is curated by three internationally admired style-makers and Verdura aficionados: Carolina and Reinaldo Herrera, longtime friends of Verdura, and their daughter Patricia Lansing. The perfect Holiday outing for New Yorkers and visitors alike.

Visitors won't want to miss Coco Chanel's original cuffs and Greta Garbo's bracelet watch as well as a selection of more than 200 of Duke Fulco di Verdura's original jewels and objets d'art on loan from collectors around the world, many of which have never before been on public display. They will view jewelry from the private collections of modern day style icons, Sofia Coppola, Sarah Jessica Parker and Brooke Shields. 

As an additional point of interest, visitors will have a rare opportunity to view four pieces by Fulco di Verdura from the recent Sotheby's auction of Jewels & Objects of Vertu from the Collection of Mrs. Paul Mellon. These highlights include the following:

- Two exquisite gold, platinum, gem-set and cultured pearl "Blackamoor" brooches

- A gold, gem-set and enamel "Pomegranate" table ornament

- A gold, enamel, sapphire and ruby "Lizard" brooch

The Power of Style is curated by three internationally admired style-makers and Verdura aficionados: Carolina and Reinaldo Herrera, longtime friends of Verdura, and their daughter Patricia Lansing.  The exhibition brings to life his inspirations and gives dimension to the social landscape during the six decades he designed, the exhibition also includes selections from his 10,000 gouache jewelry designs, archival materials, personal miniature paintings, and rare period photographs.
