Christian Svarfvar, the young internationally acclaimed violin virtuoso releases his first CD (Sterling) with a recording of the three Violin Sonatas of Norway's most famous and loved composer Edward Grieg.

Christian Svarfvar, a former child prodigy, grew up in Sweden in a family of musicians and started playing the violin as a five-year old. At the age of 13 he made his debut in Mendelssohn violin concerto with the Swedish chamber orchestra.
In 2005 he graduated from the world famous Juilliard School in New York, and since then he has been performing solo in the most prestigious concert halls in the world such as the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Musikverein in Vienna, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Cité de la Musique in Paris. In 2009 he made his New York-debut in a sold out Carnegie Hall.
With his passionate, vibrant and yet elegant playing Christian Svarfvar is today one of the most sought after violinists in Scandinavia and he performs all over the world. He is also a passionate chamber music player and has performed with fellow artists such as Thorleif Thedéen, Martin Fröst, Peter Jablonski, Julian Rachlin, Frans Helmersson and Tabea Zimmerman.
Christian Svarfvar is presently working with BIS Records on a new album with composers of the French impressionism, to be released later this fall.
