The Princeton Review Announces New Community College Allied Health Care Partnership

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., March 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Princeton Review, Inc. (Nasdaq: REVU), a leading provider of test preparation and online career education services announced today the creation of a Community College Division to operate a new innovative venture with community colleges to expand distance and hybrid learning opportunities in the allied health care field.

Community College Partnerships

With the acquisition of Penn Foster late last year, The Princeton Review made a major expansion into career education. Among the fastest growing programs in the career education marketplace are those degree programs that prepare students for careers in allied health care.  Many of the nation's community colleges have long waiting lists for programs as diverse as nursing, occupational therapy and radiologic technology. In many cases, these colleges cannot meet the demand of their communities for skilled professionals in these disciplines because they do not have access to capital to expand the facilities to meet student demand. Nor do they have the resources to invest in the types of distance learning technologies that learners need and have come to expect from post secondary institutions.

The Princeton Review has agreed to partner with Bristol Community College, which services southeastern Massachusetts, including New Bedford and Fall River, to create a new Allied Health Care Initiative. By the fall of 2010 the Initiative expects to be offering new degree programs in general health science, medical information and coding, and massage therapy.  Over the next several years the Initiative intends to expand its offering to include such programs as nursing and radiologic technology.

The new Allied Health Care Initiative will provide students with access to a state-of-the-art facility in New Bedford that will expand the regional capacity to educate healthcare workers and give them a quick path to a new career in health care while maintaining Bristol Community College's high standards of academic rigor.  After developing this initial venture, The Princeton Review expects to expand this program around Massachusetts and several other states around the country.  The Company is currently in various stages of discussion with colleges in four other states.

A formal signing of an agreement in principle with Bristol Community College is expected to be made this month in New Bedford with local and state officials.
