The Queen Mary (SM) Arrives in Demonic Dark Harbor Oct. 1

LONG BEACH, Calif., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- With its haunted history and new take on Halloween attractions, the Queen Mary's Dark Harbor premieres tomorrow night creating what is sure to be a new October tradition in Southern California.

Chill-seekers looking for a change from the area's usual theme-park scares are in for a terrifying treat as the reportedly haunted ship docks in Dark Harbor to thrill the lost souls who dare enter her seven Halloween-themed mazes and attractions.  

To enter this harbor of the damned, all guests will have to navigate through a 220-foot maze of cargo containers encountering some of the 160 monsters producing an estimated 270,000 scares each night. The three shipboard mazes--with names like 'Submerged,' 'Containment,' and 'Hellfire'—showcase pyrotechnical, atmospheric and watery special effects (recycling through tens of thousands of gallons of water each hour). On shore, two other mazes--'The Village of the Damned' and 'The Cage'--ensnare visitors not already mesmerized by the imposing sight of 'Hell's Bells Tower.' Constructed with the help of Long Beach's longshoremen, the tower is built from 11 cargo containers stacked four stories high, towering 33 feet and shooting 20-foot flames. Performances by local bands, food and drinks in the Night Mariners' Bar, and an additional monster-filled attraction known as The Barricades will keep guests at the Queen Mary's Dark Harbor eerily entertained.

Tickets, which start at only $35 plus parking, are expected to sell quickly. A limited number of Fast Fright passes at $55 provide front-of-the-line privileges and are available to guests who can't wait to meet their fate in the five mazes.
