The Remington Great Americans Shoot To Raise $1,000,000 For Special Forces Charitable Trust And Other Participating Military Non-Profits
-- Olympic Athletes, Celebrities, and Patriotic Americans Pay Homage to our Men and Women in Uniform by Participating in the Largest Money Shoot in Non-Profit History --
AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Remington Great Americans Shoot (RGAS) announces its inaugural kick-off event September 20, 2014 at the Cypress Valley Shooting Preserve just north of Austin. This national shoot, sponsored by Remington Arms and The Special Forces Charitable Trust (SFCT), will bring together competitors from all over the country to honor and bring attention to the needs of our finest military warriors and their families.
RGAS is a totally unique and new format shoot. There is not another like it in the country. The different aspects of this format and the amazing prize packages (unrivaled by any in the shooting world) result in some amazing fun and competition, but most importantly go directly to our soldiers.
RGAS "Founder" Mike Reynolds - "Years ago I had the opportunity to spend a week with a group of young Special Operations soldiers in an event called Maximum Warrior. Spending a week together, I was amazed, actually FLOORED, at the training required for these young men in order to be a part of their elite forces. I don't think any of them had less than six deployments, some more. I've never met a finer group of young men. I've been inordinately blessed in life and have grown to realize that. I wanted to be able to say a 'THANK YOU' for what they do to help protect the freedoms of this country that has been so good to me. I wanted to shine a brighter light on the fact that these families ALL…100% of them. . . face the everyday challenges of family, education, finances and society. . . and then add the high stress of combat and constant threat of injury, some catastrophic. THEY ARE GREAT AMERICANS...and they do it for us.
I'd like to also thank SFCT for introducing me to Otto Weigl a retired Marine who helped the Remington Outdoor Company select SFCT as their military charity. Without Remington's help, this shoot would not have happened."

The RGAS format is quite simple – 20 teams of 5 shooters will shoot AT… 50 clay pigeons. Using a fundraising site, DoJiggy, each shooter solicits pledges from friends, family, and business associates for EACH BIRD THEY ACTUALLY BREAK. If the get a pledge for $5 per each bird they break. . . and hit 30 out of 50…that pledge is $150.There will be both individual and team champions. The single shooter that raises the most amount of money in pledges will be the "winner" of the shoot.
The Grand Prize
2014 Jeep Rubicon
With Remington serving as the national sponsor, they will be working with their national marketing group to promote the RGAS and to work towards getting national coverage. This shoot will make history. As the sponsor, Remington will be providing a series of prizes as well for the competitors. (Prizes will be showcased at a later date.)
The RGAS is more than just showing up and competing for prizes. Each team will also be asked to choose a military charity they are passionate about. The first $500,000 of the total will go to support host, SFCT. THE REMAINDER will be split between the top five fundraising teams, with 30%, 25%, 20%, 15%, and 10% earmarked to their charities. This makes the competition a win-win for all. The money raised by each shooter is as follows: Each shooter shall raise $10,000. This makes the shoot minimum $1,000,000.
