The Retail Gift Card Association Celebrates Five Years

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Retail Gift Card Association (RGCA), a trade association of diverse, closed loop gift card retailers committed to promoting the use of gift cards, today announced the kick-off to the association's five-year anniversary. To begin the year-long celebration, the RGCA will be holding special events during the annual membership meeting at Money 20/20 in Las Vegas.

Since the fall of 2008, the RGCA has been providing the closed loop gift card industry with a unified voice on legislative and regulatory issues, while providing its members educational and networking opportunities to continually enhance their programs. Today, the RGCA has established itself as a relevant and respected force in the prepaid industry. Highlights of the past five years include:

1. Growing from 9 founding members to 70 member companies representing over 280 brands
2. Promotion of responsible legislation on escheat and other critical issues
3. Creation of a confidential forum for members to share best practices
4. Education of media and consumers about the positive benefits and safety of retail gift cards
5. Access to resources to help enhance member gift card programs
6. Development of a member's code of conduct that promotes consumer-friendly policies

The membership meeting will begin at 12:00 pm on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas. Events include:

• State of the gift card industry
• VIP appreciation event for members and supporters of the RGCA, sponsored by Ogloba
• Open discussion with renowned presenter Joshua Kauffman, the creator of the "Unconference," a new approach aiming to get the most out of conference gatherings
