CHICAGO, April 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the fifteen-year success of Comedy Summer Camps for children aged 5-18 and weekly class offerings beginning at age 4, The Second City Training Center is expanding its educational programming with "Second City Sillies" for ages 2-4. "Second City Sillies" is a playful adaption of improv, clowning, and singing that is fun for toddlers and their accompanying adults. Focusing on the skills that have made Second City one of the most popular comedy theaters in the world, Second City Silles explores imagination and make-believe in a format that will thrill the youngest comedians.
Nurturing budding comedians while conditioning their funny bones, this class encourages independence, confidence, and teamwork for all ages. "This age group already knows how to play. What we teach them is how to play in a group and how to work together," says Jeff Poole, head of the Kids and Teens programs at The Second City Training Center. "The kids play with no fear, take risks, and embrace the silly. Many of the parents of our 5-8 year old students have asked for a class for younger students, so it was a natural choice to open our Training Center up to include more members of the families we serve."
Classes are designed for two age groups:
- Ages 24 - 36 months: Geared towards toddlers who can walk and have some verbal ability
- Ages 36 - 48 months: Geared towards kids who can follow instructions in a group setting
Classes will be held Saturday and Wednesday mornings. Caregiver/child pairs can join for all eight weeks of the class or for select days. Classes are held at The Second City Training Center, at 230 W. North Avenue.
"We loved this class. It is a great way to develop confidence and inspire creativity for toddlers." - Anoop Anekal, Dad in class.
