
The Steamboat Institute Announces Karl Rove as Keynote Speaker for 2010 Annual Freedom Conference on Fri., Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. MT
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo., July 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Karl Rove, Fox News Contributor, former senior advisor and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush, and author of "Courage and Consequence, My Life as a Conservative in the Fight," will be the featured keynote dinner speaker at The Steamboat Institute's 2010 Annual Freedom Conference on Fri., Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. MT, it was officially announced today.
The dinner featuring Mr. Rove, a native Coloradoan, will be held at the Steamboat Grand Hotel in Steamboat Springs, Colo., during the Institute's two day annual conference, Aug. 27 and Aug. 28. Mr. Rove served as a senior advisor to President George W. Bush from 2000–2007 and as deputy chief of staff from 2004–2007. At the White House, Mr. Rove oversaw the Offices of Strategic Initiatives, Political Affairs, Public Liaison, and Intergovernmental Affairs and was deputy chief of staff for policy, coordinating the White House policy-making process.
Before Mr. Rove became known as "The Architect" of President Bush's 2000 and 2004 campaigns, he was president of Karl Rove + Company, an Austin-based public affairs firm that worked for Republican candidates, non-partisan causes, and non-profit groups. His clients included over 75 Republican U.S. Senate, Congressional, and gubernatorial candidates in 24 states, as well as the Moderate Party of Sweden.
In addition to his roles as a Fox News commentator and best-selling author, Mr. Rove writes a weekly op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, and is a Newsweek columnist. A Denver native, he attended the University of Utah, the University of Maryland-College Park, George Mason University, and the University of Texas at Austin.
Schubert-Akin said the conference will draw a local and national audience of business and political leaders, consultants and concerned citizens, including many graduates of The Leadership Program of the Rockies and members of the Council for National Policy.
The speakers' line up will feature an array of nationally-known experts on economics and national defense, best-selling authors, Fox News contributors, public officials, and many more. Last year, Mr. Michael Reagan – a best-selling author, son of President Ronald W. Reagan and chairman of the Reagan Legacy Foundation– was the featured dinner speaker.
