The SWAY PHX 8th Annual "Dancing With The Bars" Competition And Fundraiser Set To Hit The TCA Stage August 9th
Representatives of Local Businesses Now Rehearsing and Raising Funds for Aunt Rita's Foundation
PHOENIX, July 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly twenty local businesses are working together to support ten amateur dancers and their professional partners, from Arizona Ballroom Champions, in the eighth annual SWAY PHX Dancing With The Bars tournament, beginning at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 9th. The highly anticipated event takes place at Tempe Center for The Arts, located at 700 W Rio Salado Pkwy, in Tempe.
Dancing with The Bars is an annual Phoenix fundraiser that benefits local charities and garners participation from patrons of local bars and restaurants. Much like the popular television show, highly-visible local personalities are selected as amateur dancers and challenged to learn the art of ballroom dancing.
Contestants are paired with professional ballroom dance instructors and train for eight weeks. Throughout their experience, contestants are provided with mentors and their progress is documented in live video that is aired at the event. At the finale, each couple performs the dance of a lifetime, complete with a large stage production in front of a live audience. The winning couple is determined by the combination of a skilled panel of judges and audience voting.
According to Gary Guerin, founder and owner of SWAY PHX and SWAY Events, "This is not only a signature event for our company, it has also become a Valley tradition that people look forward to, every year. I'm proud of what we've created and the fact that we've raised nearly $60,000 for local non-profits, so far. Next year, we hope to reach an even broader audience by involving contestants from a more diverse selection of establishments. Eventually, my vision is to offer this event to cities, across the country, allowing them to achieve the same high level of excitement and sense of accomplishment we have, in Phoenix."

This year's benefitting charity is the Aunt Rita's Foundation. The mission of the Aunt Rita's Foundation is to be the catalyst of HIV/AIDS awareness, education and support. Aunt Rita's Foundation raises and equally distributes funds to Central Arizona programs that prevent HIV/AIDS or assist those living with HIV/AIDS. Aunt Rita's Foundation accomplishes this through direct public education and signature fund-raising events.
Tickets for Dancing With The Bars are now on sale, through Tempe Center for The Arts and cost $40 for premium seating and VIP pre-party access or $25 for upper-level seating. VIP Ticket holders will have access to the official Pre-Party from 5:00-6:00 p.m. VIP guests will be treated to samplings, services, and a meet & greet with the DWTB cast. The party will take place in the TCA Lakeside space. VIP ticket holders will have reserved premium lower level seating in Theatre included in ticket price.
