The Tam O'Shanter's 90th Anniversary Celebration Kicks-Off Friday, June 22nd

LOS ANGELES, June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tam O'Shanter, the oldest family-owned restaurant in Los Angeles in its original location on Los Feliz Blvd. in Atwater Village, will kick-off its milestone 90th Anniversary on Friday, June 22 from 11am to midnight with prime rib dinner and dessert specials, a display of 1929 Model A vehicles, the 1920s Tin Pan Alley music of the legendary Ian Whitcomb, and a civic ceremony at 4:30pm.
Founded by Lawrence L. Frank and Water Van de Kamp in June 1922, the Tam O'Shanter remains owned and operated by the Frank and Van de Kamp families who created a dining empire with the Van de Kamp's bakery and coffee shop chain and Lawry's The Prime Rib restaurants.
To commemorate Tam O'Shanter's 90th Anniversary, there will be a formal ceremony at the entrance to the restaurant at 4:30pm with three generations of Frank and Van de Kamp family members, including former California Attorney General John Van de Kamp, and actors Beverly D'Angelo, Barry & Stanley Livingston (My Three Sons), Erin Murphy (Tabitha on Bewitched), Kate Linder (2500+ episodes as Esther Valentine in The Young & the Restless), Barbara Van Orden (Welcome Back, Kotter). Attending elected officials include Councilmembers Tom LaBonge and Eric Garcetti, Assemblyman Mike Feuer, Senator Carol Liu, Glendale Mayor Frank Quintero, and the offices of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Supervisor Mike Antonovich, Assemblyman Mike Gato, Congressman Adam Schiff. British Invasion music legend Ian Whitcomb ("You Turn Me On") will emcee.
Featuring the Storybook-style architecture of Hollywood set designer, Harry Oliver, the Tam was named after the famous Robert Burns poem and decorated throughout with Scottish decor.
During the 1920s, the Tam was a popular hangout for Walt Disney, Rudolph Valentino, Fatty Arbuckle, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Dorothy and Lillian Gish, Theda Bara, Gloria Swanson and many others.
