The Texas Storm Holds "Pitching for Pink" Walkathon Benefitting the Susan G. Komen Houston Foundation
HOUSTON, April 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Texas Storm states today that on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Pearland Town Center, over 1500 participants will join the Girls 16U TX Storm Fastpitch Softball team to walk benefitting Susan G. Komen Houston Foundation.
"This is our first year to join with Susan G. Komen Houston Foundation and to be a part of something so special," states Manager of Operations, Sheri Cortez. "Our young ladies are so excited to be able to raise funds for such a worthy cause and have fun at the same time. It's a great opportunity for our girls to give back to the community."
The walkathon will take place from 8:00am-12:00pm on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Pearland Town Center. Participants are encouraged to join in to help raise a $10,000 donation to the foundation on behalf of the team. Registration fees are $50 and include entry into the walk, a Walkathon T-Shirt, a commemorative meal band and 10 raffle tickets for some great prizes!
The Texas Storm is a nationally known competitive girls fastpitch softball organization which is based out of Bellaire, and supports the greater Houston area, and is home to a 16U, 18U and 18 Gold team. The organization is committed to ASA fastpitch softball exclusively, and all teams compete at the highest level possible. The Texas Storm competes in some of the most prestigious tournaments in an effort to showcase high school athletes to college coaches. The emphasis of the organization is on training of all fundamental skills at the younger levels, and college exposure and assistance in recruiting at the Gold level.
