
The University of Scranton Supports Graduate Education for Teachers With More Than $68,000 in Scholarships for Online Master's Degree Programs
Funds Will Assist Educators Seeking Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction or Master of Science in Educational Administration Degree Online
TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of Scranton, in partnership with Bisk Education and University Alliance Online, is pleased to announce that applications are currently being accepted for new Bisk Foundation Teacher Education Scholarships to be awarded this fall. Teachers enrolling for the first time in one of The University of Scranton's two online master of science in education degree programs are eligible to apply for these prestigious awards, which are designed to help them expand their expertise and advance their careers.
A total of 16 teacher education scholarships will be awarded during the 2010-2011 academic year. Valued at one-quarter of tuition costs, the awards will be at least $3,960 for recipients enrolled in the Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction program and $4,290 for those in the Master of Science in Educational Administration program. The scholarships are valid for tuition only and will continue as long as the beneficiary is an active, degree-seeking student in good academic standing at The University of Scranton. In case of tuition increases, the awards will be adjusted to remain at 25% of the current tuition.

Important Application Deadlines for Interested Candidates
Teachers entering either of the master of science in education degree programs can apply for one of four graduate scholarships awarded each session. Application deadlines are:

Applicants for the Bisk Foundation Teacher Education Scholarships must have earned a minimum 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA from a regionally accredited undergraduate or graduate university. In addition, they must be first-time students in The University of Scranton's Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction or Master of Science in Educational Administration online program. All applicants must submit an essay on how they have made a difference in the lives of others, as well as a written recommendation from the principal of their school. Graduate scholarships will be awarded as determined by The University of Scranton representatives.
