The Westin La Cantera Resort Celebrates 10th Anniversary of the Palmer Course

SAN ANTONIO, June 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Westin La Cantera Resort is proud to announce the 10th anniversary of The Palmer Course; a championship class 18-hole golf course created by golf legend and award-winning course designer Arnold Palmer and the Arnold Palmer Design Company.  In celebration of the 10th anniversary, the resort will run a summer golf promotion from June 20-August 28, 2011, that will give golfers the chance to test their skills at the renowned signature course.

The promotion consists of a $69 (weekday) and $79 (weekend) guest fee with cart rental, which includes a complimentary lunch at either clubhouse.  Golfers will also receive a $20 bounce back coupon, to expire on Dec. 31, 2011, encouraging the golfer to return and try out the resort's additional links at the 18-hole Resort Course.

Guests who take advantage of the summer golf promotion will instantly be included in a prize drawing.  The grand prize includes: a 2-night stay, two-some golf round and a personalized memento from Mr. Palmer.  The winner will be announced in early September.

The resort gained 18 more holes of golf with the opening of The Palmer Course in 2001.  The Par-71, 6,998-yard course is dramatically situated over 250 acres in the Texas Hill Country.  Carefully grafted into the natural landscape, The Palmer Course offers rock outcroppings, rolling hills, majestic views, native vegetation and wildlife.  The course's #4 Signature Hole requires a long carry over a lake with dramatic waterfalls on the right and entire front of the green.

At the time, the course was Mr. Palmer's first in South Texas and his fifth design in the state.  The course holds a special place in Mr. Palmer's heart with the dedication of a bridge on #4 green to his first wife, Winnie.
