TASER Receives Bulk Smart Weapons Contracts

TASER International Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR-Free Report) declared receiving several contracts to provide TASER brand next generation Smart Weapons and Conducted Electrical Weapons (CEW) to the U.S. military, government organizations and various law enforcement agencies. The deliveries are expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2014.

The key orders include the supply of 168 TASER X2 Smart Weapons to Arizona Department of Public Safety, 259 X26s with 20 TASER Cam recorders to Langley Air Force Ba, 225 X26s with TASER Cam recorders to Lackland Air Force Base, 169 TASER X26P Smart Weapons upgrade to Las Vegas Metro Police Department, 100 X2s to Louisiana State Police and 250 X26Ps to the U.S. Marshals Service Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

It is evident from TASER International's order book that the company frequently wins orders from the U.S. and foreign government establishments. On Nov 5, 2014, the company obtained numerous sizable orders to provide the AXON body-worn video cameras and EVIDENCE.com platforms.

As far as international contracts are concerned, TASER International has provided TASER brand next generation Smart Weapons and CEWs to Australia, France, Poland and the UK.

TASER International intends to keep its commitments in terms of maintaining product and service standards along with delivery timing. These initiatives facilitate regular order wins.

In addition, TASER International continues steady research and development (R&D) activities to introduce new products and services. In the third quarter of 2014, the company's R&D expenses were $3.8 million, up $1.3 million year over year due to additional personnel expenses related to the EVIDENCE.com and Video segment product development initiatives.

In Oct 2014, the company unveiled the new AXON Signal wireless activation technology. These initiatives will enable TASER International to expand its product portfolio and attract more customers. This will bring in more orders and subsequently improve future cash inflow.
