THEKOIWAY Announces New Single "La Calle Quema" Featuring Jamez Manuel, with NYC Release Show on June 3

Multidisciplinary music collective celebrates international awards, announces bold new single and summer tour dates across New York City

BROOKLYN, N.Y., June 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- THEKOIWAY, the multicultural music collective led by Chilean-born artist Victor Vildósola, is set to release its electrifying new single "La Calle Quema" on June 3, 2025. Featuring acclaimed Chilean rapper Jamez Manuel (Zonora Point), the track blends '70s funk, Latin rap, and urban poetry into a socially charged anthem that continues the project's signature fusion of cinematic soundscapes and streetwise storytelling.

Originally written in Mexico City in 2012, La Calle Quema was reimagined and recorded between Brooklyn and Santiago de Chile, with the accompanying music video directed by Vildósola and shot by Arturo de Las Fuentes (NYC) and Francho Ramírez (SCL). The video captures urban life across two cities through gritty visual collage, street-inspired aesthetics, and themes of resilience, inequality, and community. In line with THEKOIWAY's commitment to accessibility and inclusion, a Sign Language Version of the video was also produced, interpreted by Ludo Ibarra and filmed in chroma by Pablo Silva. This version opens the project to Deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences, reinforcing the collective's vision of music as a universal language and tool for social connection.

 The single will be premiered live at a special release show on June 3 at NuBlu in New York's East Village.

"This song sat with me for over a decade," says Vildósola. "It wasn't its time back then, but when I revisited it, it felt more urgent than ever. The energy of the street, the contradictions we live through—it all came pouring back. Jamez came in strong, and the message still burns."

The release follows a breakout year for THEKOIWAY, whose previous maxi-single The Game of Life earned critical acclaim and was selected for top international music and film festivals including Lift-Off (Austin, Tokyo), Mirada Corta (Mexico City), and SAM Festival (Chile)—where it won Best Performance at CityLab 2025. The music video, starring Chilean National Arts Award recipient Héctor Noguera, received an Honorable Mention at WSXA Barcelona and a Medal of Honor at the Berlin Music Video Awards.

THEKOIWAY's unique blend of Latin American rhythms, Andean instruments, funk grooves, hip-hop beats, and visual storytelling continues to position the project as a fresh, urgent voice in global independent music.
