"This is an exciting event and a major economic win for CVG and the Tri-State Region," said Tim Zeis, CVG's Chief Operating Officer. "We look forward to serving the flying and driving needs of the over 200 private aircraft and NASCAR aviation community, along with the hundreds of helicopter and ground transportation operations – providing a hassle free experience from the runway to the race track, and back."
The Airport will make use of available facilities to handle operations for this event. Space has been identified on the north side of the Airport to park private aircraft and move passengers safely, quickly and efficiently from the plane to the ground transportation area staged nearby with rental cars, taxis, and buses. For those traveling to the race via helicopter, CVG will re-open part of Concourse C to park aircraft carrying passengers boarding helicopters.
"Our CVG team has been planning for this event since last year," added Zeis. "Working with Delta Air Lines, our Fixed Base Operator, Delta Private Jets, the Transportation Security Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration Air Traffic Control Tower, we are ready to showcase CVG's capabilities and exceed customer expectations for this first of its kind event in Kentucky."
