This is the "Summer to Win" for lifeguards

OWINGS MILLS, Md., July 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Being a lifeguard has many perks, such as being able to enjoy the weather all summer long, knowing that people look to you for safety and guidance, and that you play a vital role in pool operations. But the rewards don't end there when you're a part of American Pool's Guard for Life program.

Every summer, each American Pool office awards points to lifeguards for their work. This includes everything from completing lifeguard training to taking the end-of-the-year summer survey. At the end of the summer, managers give lifeguards various prizes depending on the total number of points they've accumulated. These include pizza parties, flip flops for guards and Amazon gift cards.

Additionally, lifeguards have a chance to win big during "Lifeguard Appreciation Week," which runs from July 18 to Aug. 3. During this time, points are bumped up to 1,000. Each office interprets Lifeguard Appreciation Week differently, making the weeklong experience unique for each team – some managers invite guards out for treats after work, while others hold t-shirt giveaways. There will be an ongoing contest across all American Pool sites to win "Whistle while you work" t-shirts.

Lifeguard Appreciation Week also provides guards with the opportunity to show off their creativity to the rest of the company. American Pool publishes its own Mad Lib-style form on its Facebook page and encourages all their guards to fill out and submit it. The best one will be posted, and runner-ups will win tank tops.
