Thomas A. Roberts Joins Bressler, Amery & Ross as Principal in Securities Practice
Brings Significant Experience in Securities, Securities Litigation and Commercial Litigation
NEW YORK, June 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. announced today that Thomas A. Roberts has joined the firm as a Principal in its Securities and Securities Litigation practices.
Mr. Roberts is resident in Bressler's New York office. He was previously a partner at the New Orleans firm of Barrasso Usdin Kupperman Freeman & Sarver, L.L.C.
His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on defending securities brokerage firms, financial services firms and professionals. Mr. Roberts also represents telecommunications clients in litigation and regulatory matters. He has appeared extensively in federal and state courts and in arbitration proceedings before all major self-regulatory organizations, and private dispute resolution organizations.

Mr. Roberts regularly counsels companies and their employees who are the subject of regulatory investigations. Notable cases Mr. Roberts has handled include the successful representation of a broker-dealer in defending allegations of material omissions with respect to the sale of Auction Rate Securities at trial in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Mr. Roberts also successfully represented the former CEO of a publicly traded oil and gas company in a security class action commenced following a revision of financial statements concerning reported reserves. Mr. Roberts also serves as general counsel to the boards of several trade associations, offering them corporate governance and antitrust advice.
He is a member of SIFMA's Compliance and Legal Division, has served on the Advisory Board of Resource Bank in New Orleans, and has been on the Board of the Telluride Academy in Telluride, CO.
Mr. Roberts earned his JD from New York Law School and his BA from Manhattan College. Earlier in his career, he was a partner at McGlinchey Stafford PLLC in New Orleans and an associate at Drinker Biddle & Reath (formerly Shanley & Fisher) in New York.
