Three resident physicians choose to stay with Adena Health following graduation

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio, July 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Patient care and access at Adena Health continues to benefit from the strength of its graduate medical education program, as three members of its 2025 residency class have chosen to remain with the health system to begin their professional careers.

At a recent graduation ceremony for 15 residents, Jeff Graham, Adena president and CEO, celebrated the accomplishments of the class and shared a message of continued connection: "No matter where you choose to go, you'll always have a home at Adena." For three graduates, that home will remain in south central and southern Ohio.

Those continuing their journey with Adena include:

• Chase Alfman, DO, a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, will join Sound Physicians as a hospitalist.
• Taylor Boll King, DO, a graduate of the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, will practice as both an inpatient and outpatient psychiatrist and join the psychiatry core faculty within Adena's graduate medical education program.
• William O'Neal, MD, a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, will become the inaugural fellow in Adena's new primary care sports medicine fellowship.

Resident physicians are fully credentialed doctors undergoing specialized training after earning their medical degrees. At Adena, they receive hands-on experience through residency programs in family medicine, internal medicine, and psychiatry, and through the primary care sports medicine fellowship.

Over the years, many residents have cited the supportive learning environment, exceptional physician mentorship, and close-knit community as reasons for staying. With these three additions, 10 physicians from the last four graduating classes have joined Adena's medical staff.

Since its inaugural class of six in 2012, Adena's residency program has grown in both size and reputation. Its incoming class in July will include 16 new resident physicians and one fellow coming from across the country, including as far away as California, Florida, Texas, and Puerto Rico.
