Thunderbird Preparatory Academy Announces Permanent Site for Its Leadership Charter School
North Carolina's Leadership Charter School takes off! Thunderbird Preparatory Academy announces 77-acre permanent site for 2016/17 school year.
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- THUNDERBIRD PREPARATORY ACADEMY, North Carolina's leadership charter school, has announced today that the permanent location for the school will be on 75+ acres situated in Huntersville, North Carolina near the largest single-site heated greenhouse in the United States.
The estimated opening date for the new campus is 2016/17 starting with 6th and 7th grades, with grades K-5 entering the campus the following year. The preliminary plans call for athletic fields, spaces for art and music, a student union building, and a 30-plus acre nature preserve. Half of the land will be undeveloped in order to preserve the feeling of open space and a natural environment. The new property, located on Huntersville-Concord Road near Metrolina Greenhouses, will give students the opportunity to be in a campus environment which will be part of nature and a place that inspires creativity. The new location will enable the school to educate more than 1,300 elementary, middle and high school students at a single location.
