Tiex Inc. - Exploration Update on Its Quesnel Trough Properties, Central British Columbia, Canada
KELOWNA, BC, July 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ - Tiex Inc. ("Tiex" or the "Company") (TSX-V: TIX) is pleased to issue an update of its exploration work that the Company has initiated on its Horsefly Property in the Quesnel Trough area of central British Columbia.
Field crews have begun geological mapping, prospecting and establishing exploration grids for soil sampling and induced-polarization ("IP") surveying on its Horsefly Property. The Horsefly Property encompasses bulk-tonnage sedimentary hosted gold targets (the McKaygold and Jamboree target areas) and several porphyry copper-gold target areas (the Viewland, Jack, Corey, Elbow Lake and Bosk Lake targets areas). Work has started on the Viewland, Elbow Lake and Corey areas.
1. Elbow Lake area - Mapping and identified a large hydrothermal system within the Nicola sedimentary package cored by porphyritic andesite volcanic rocks and a diorite to monzonite intrusion north of Elbow Lake. Outcrop is very limited but those few outcrops observed thus far show intense propyllitic alteration in proximity to the intrusion and possible Porphyry Cu-Au mineralization. Grid preparation is complete and soil sampling will begin within the next few days, IP in August.
2. Viewland area - Preparation of ~ 40 line-km of grid is on-going and should be complete before the end of July and IP conducted in August. The few outcrops seen thus far show that there are abundant high energy volcanic rocks and one isolated outcrop of diorite to monzonite within the magnetic high that centres the Viewland target area. Extensive hornfelsing (silicification and local biotite alteration) occurs in a shale outcrop ~700 m away with numerous quartz veins and veinlets suggesting that we may be looking at more of a calc-alkaline porphyry system rather than the typical alkalic porphyries found in the Quesnel Trough.
3. Corey area - Reconnaissance mapping on the Corey target has identified a monzonite stock which centres abundant hydrothermal alteration. The monzonite is locally stockworked with K-feldspar-quartz-sulphide veins. There are numerous quartz-sulphide veins in the area and moderate propyllitic alteration (with local copper staining) in the surrounding volcanic rocks. A reconnaissance MMI soil survey line conducted in 2009 returned highly anomalous copper results and will be followed up in the next few days with additional soil sampling.
Reconnaissance work will continue for another two weeks after which detailed mapping will begin on the Company's most advanced project, Gold Creek, in preparation for drilling in the fall.
