Tilt My Blinds Surpasses Kickstarter Funding Goal; Reaches Nearly $75,000

PROVO, Utah, Oct. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Having surpassed its initial Kickstarter goal of $50,000, Tilt My Blinds (Tilt) has raised nearly $75,000 and began the manufacturing and fulfillment process on its affordable easy-to-install blind automation kit. The Tilt Kickstarter campaign runs through Oct. 16.

"We were overwhelmed with the product's acceptance among the Kickstarter community. With only a few days left, we still have a few opportunities for new backers," said Emily Brimhall, CEO of Tilt My Blinds. "Being able to reach our goal has given us confidence that this is a product people really want and can use. We're excited to bring it to market and to see people across the globe using it."

Tilt is scheduled to ship to backers in Feb., and they are still looking for people to help them reach their first stretch goal on their project page here.

"Design for the major Tilt components is complete, and testing is currently underway," said Brimhall. "Up until this point in the project, 3D printing was used to manufacture parts needed to build the prototype Tilt units.  Because the product met its funding goal so quickly, Team Tilt has decided to start manufacturing and testing of the product even before the fundraising campaign ends."

The injection molds for the gear train have been completed, and endurance testing on the production gear train has already begun. The electronic components and smartphone app are being fine-tuned to ensure a solid product for Tilt's customers.

Tilt My Blinds is first committed to releasing the product directly to its Kickstarter supporters and funders, but once that is completed, the company plans to release Tilt My Blinds to distributors and retailers who are already expressing interest in Q2 of 2015.

Easy to Install
Tilt can be installed in 15 minutes or less without the need for heavy tools or professional installation.

Programmable
Through its custom app, Tilt can be easily programmed to open and close at specified times so you can have natural light in the day, privacy at night, and optimum energy savings. While you are away from home, Tilt is customizable and can be programmed to open one or multiple blinds to keep your personal belongings out of sight.

Additionally, the company will offer a USB dongle that can be inserted into your TV's USB port that tells the Tilt to close when the TV is turned on.

Battery or Solar Power
Tilt uses lithium iron batteries and is recharged by plugging the cord into the blind's drawstring. Additionally, Tilt will sell a solar-power option as an add-on that can be used to power the blinds and is mounted behind the blind tray.

Light Sensor
Tilt includes a smart sensor that detects when it is night or day and opens and closes based on your settings in Tilt's app. The sensor also knows the difference between sunlight and artificial light so blinds don't open and close every time the lights turn on and off. 

Controlling Tilt
Tilt uses Bluetooth LE (Bluetooth 4.0) to communicate with Android and iOS smart devices to give homeowners complete control of their blinds from any room. Tilt will also offer a switch that is easily mounted on any surface in the home to control your blinds at the click of a button, and if you are standing next to Tilt blinds you can simply tug on the string and your blinds will open or close.
