Time's Running Out to Bust Through NYC in a Decorated Bra

NEW YORK, July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Walk the Walk's night-time marathon for breast cancer, The MoonWalk NYC 2014 presented by Empire BlueCross BlueShield, will be closing its registration soon. Power Walkers looking to strut through the NYC streets in bedazzled bras and raise money for Memorial Sloan Kettering's Breast Examination Center of Harlem (BECH) will have until Friday, July 11^th to register for the half marathon.

The iconic overnight marathon will kick off for the second year in New York City at Randall's Island on Saturday, July 26^th at 10:30pm. The event is hosted by grant making charity Walk the Walk, which has engaged over 300,000 participants worldwide and has raised over $161 million to date for breast cancer causes.

The MoonWalk NYC 2014 has attracted powerful women from around the country. Olympic and World Cup Soccer Star Brandi Chastain will be back for a second year, sporting a decorated bra. "The MoonWalk has had such an international impact, and last year The MoonWalk NYC was a great success as America's first overnight, bra-baring marathon. I am thrilled to see what The MoonWalk NYC has in store this year," said Chastain.

In addition to Chastain, television and radio sportscaster, Tina Cervasio, will be leading her own team, "Tina's Team Ta-Tas," through the MoonWalk NYC also wearing a sports-themed bra.  

As the bra has become a trademark for Walk the Walk, inspiring empowerment, fun, and fitness for all, Komar will be donating nearly 2,000 bras for The MoonWalk NYC participants as an extension of their Komar Cares program, which supports charitable causes and giving back to local communities. These bras will be included in the Final Walker Packages, which will arrive at participants' homes before the event. Playing into the visually quirky and fun MoonWalk NYC spirit, Darby Smart will be gifting Power Walkers exclusive DIY bra decorating kits with snazzy crafts for the participants to personalize their bras.

At their store in the Garment District, Chipotle will also be supporting The MoonWalk NYC by donating 50% of the sales on July 12^th 2014 from 12pm-4pm. Additionally, NYC upholstery staple, Zarin Fabrics will be running a fundraising program, donating 10% of their sales until October 31, 2014 to The MoonWalk NYC 2014.
