MT. LAUREL, N.J., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- TimeSight Systems™, the industry leader in video lifecycle management (VLM) for video surveillance, announced today the release of TimeSight BASIC, an advanced hybrid digital video surveillance platform offering world-class networked video recording for both analog and digital camera systems, full recording protection without 'timeline gaps,' and upgradeability to the award-winning TimeSight Enterprise VLM solution.

Effective immediately, TimeSight will begin shipping TimeSight BASIC, a full-featured network video recorder (NVR) platform available as either software-only, or on pre-installed on integrated video surveillance appliances.  Now, entry-level customers needing protection with smaller camera counts can enjoy industry-leading digital video surveillance at a price starting at $2,295 MSRP for a totally integrated appliance.

In addition, TimeSight BASIC offers the complete timeline protection found in the award-winning TimeSight Enterprise VLM solution, through the use of Motion Optimized Recording (MORe).  Through the use of TimeSight's MORe feature, customers are not forced to record only on perceived motion, which leaves 'timeline gaps' that increase risk, in order to save storage.  Now, even entry-level customers can enjoy 100% recording, ensuring a time-stamped image of every second of every day, without paying significant incremental storage costs.

Market studies have shown that video retention times continue to elongate, due to increasing requirements to archive data for greater protection.  Regulations such as PCI compliance, CFATS, along with increasing liability concerns have seen surveillance users increase video retention times up to a year, with an increasing cost of systems and storage to hold and manage the video.  With TimeSight's new TimeSight BASIC offering, a fully-integrated, sixteen camera system can hold six months of data, with full coverage, for less than the cost of a standard DVR offering only days or weeks retention.  As systems requirements grow, the TimeSight BASIC software can be upgraded to the full TimeSight Enterprise VLM system, allowing over a year's retention, without ever needing to add storage or other hardware.

"We're excited about bringing the industry's most advanced technology, normally found only in the largest sites, to smaller scale and distributed systems, including the millions of DVRs that are reaching end-of-life," stated Charles Foley, CEO of TimeSight Systems.  "Customers struggling with the cost and disruption of moving from analog to IP cameras can now have a relaxed migration, at an aggressive price point, which supports their legacy environment as well as future technology such as IP networks and megapixel cameras."

The market for the storage and recording of digital surveillance data is expected to top $5 billion in 2010, according to industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan, driven by the increasing installation of high resolution, networked cameras.  As such a large market, it has attracted significant investment in technological innovation.  TimeSight's unique VLM technology allows users to deploy large numbers of high-resolution cameras, with greatly extended retention of the security data, on up to 90% less storage than is required on competitive systems.  This firm 'return on investment' strategy has enabled the company to attract great attention from the industry at large, including large private, government, and educational users.
