TMX Group Consolidated Trading Statistics - October 2012

TORONTO, Nov. 2, 2012 /CNW/ - TMX Group Limited today announced October 2012 trading statistics for its diversified group of exchanges - Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange (MX), Natural Gas Exchange (NGX), TMX Select and Alpha.
TSX Venture Exchange experienced an 11% increase in volume in October 2012 from September 2012 and was up 3% compared to the same month a year earlier.
Volume on Toronto Stock Exchange was down 8% compared to September 2012 and was down 26% compared to October 2011.
Volume on TMX Select in October 2012 fell 11% compared to September 2012, and was down 50% compared to October 2011. Trading volume on Alpha in October 2012 was down 1% from the previous month and down 35% compared to October 2011.
In October 2012, trading volume on MX increased 1% from September 2012 and was up 13% from October 2011. Open interest at the end of October 2012 fell 3% from the end of September 2012, though increased 15% from the end of October 2011.
NGX experienced a 26% increase in volume in October 2012 compared to September 2012 and was down 7% compared to October 2011.
