Tony Robbins Provides Two Million Meals To American Families In Need

NEW YORK, Nov. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- World-renowned speaker, author and peak performance strategist Tony Robbins has again partnered with Feeding America, the nation's largest organization dedicated to fighting domestic hunger, to help feed families this holiday season. The national relationship between Tony Robbins and Feeding America began last year with a donation of one million meals to provide support to individuals affected by Hurricane Sandy.

This year, Tony Robbins chose to double the donation in order to help provide two million meals to families nationwide. Robbins will additionally donate 90 meals for every participant at each of his cornerstone Unleash The Power Within® events, and will donate another 90 meals for every order over $100 during the upcoming holiday season.

"I take this partnership personally," said Robbins, "At 11 years old, I experienced what it was like being part of a flat broke family. One Thanksgiving, however, a man I had never seen gifted my family with a turkey and huge basket of goodies. In that moment I came upon a new meaning—strangers care. Soon after, I realized that I wanted to do the same. I hope that my donation of two million meals can make a difference in the lives of families and inspire others to help in any way they can."

Robbins' donation takes place just after more than 47 million food stamp recipients saw their benefits permanently reduced due to legislation which went into effect on November 1. Feeding America anticipates this will result in an increased need for food assistance at its local food pantries and soup kitchens, as people look for ways to make sure they have enough food for their families.

In addition to his partnership with Feeding America, Robbins also supports families in need with the Anthony Robbins Foundation's International Basket Brigade. What began nearly 30 years ago as Robbins' individual effort to feed homeless families has now grown into a foundation that feeds more than three million people in more than 56 countries every year. The Anthony Robbins Foundation has also provided support and initiated programs in more than 2,000 schools, 700 prisons and 100,000 service organizations and shelters.
