There are a few tools which you want to employ to check for issues. Google provides two of the most useful pieces of software with Google Analytics and Google Console. Additionally, you will need to use an SEO audit tool. While there are many paid options available, there are also quite a few good options which are free such as Wildshark SEO, Visual SEO Studio, Screaming Frog, or Spotibo. 1. Google Analytics. To use Google Analytics properly first make sure it is installed on every page. Next you want all critical actions to be marked as conversions so that it analyzes them properly. Finally, you need to ensure that it is properly configured for HTTP/HTTPS. Then simply analyze and review.
   
   
2. Google Search Console. Similar to using analytics, you want Google Search Console properly set-up so that it provides the best diagnostic data possible. You need to make sure it has the correct protocol and URL, the sitemaps tab has your current sitemap listed, and that the coverage tab shows the number of indexed pages you have. Also check that the mobility usability tab is free of mobile errors, correcting any if you have them. You should also review the Links tab for anything out of place.
   
   
3. Review URLs. There are specific issues within URLs that can cause problems such as non-ASCII characters, duplicates, uppercase, or underscores that can cause issues describing site content. Ideally you should have everything grouped properly for easy review, stacked in order. 4. Check Page Titles. Page titles should be around 35-65 characters in length. Ideally, they include location and branding.
   
   
5. Review Response Codes. Most SEO audit tools have a tab for Response Codes which lists every file and the corresponding response code. Take the time to analyze and investigate any 404s, redirects, and other problem codes.
   
   
6. Check Meta Descriptions. Meta descriptions should be looked at like ad copy – you want them to be interesting and enticing. Look for ways to improve all meta descriptions to increase your click-through rates.
   
   
7. Analyze Headers. Both the H1 and H2 tags should match up with page names, titles, and meta descriptions for a harmonious page.  
   
   
8. Review Common Technical Issues. There are quite a few technical issues that can easily disrupt your SEO efforts. You can simply run tests in your browser to ensure none of them are causing problems. Check that: Error pages return 404 status codes and also show your 404-error page, no internal links return any type of 4xx error, you have XML sitemaps that reflect all valid URLs, URLs work with either 'www' prefix or without but not both, URLs work with either the 'http' prefix or 'https' but not both.
