NEW YORK, June 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Topps Company, Inc. today released Topps® BUNT® 2014, the exclusive Major League Baseball digital trading card app, for Android. Available now on the Google Play Store, BUNT 2014 for Android expands the Topps digital footprint from iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices to target Android devices with a unique digital collecting experience.
The Topps' app portfolio, including Topps BUNT, Topps HUDDLE and Topps KICK, has collectively sold more than 50 million packs of digital trading cards in 14 months on iOS. In fact, Apple recently named Topps BUNT 2014 a "Best New App" on the iPhone. Similar to other app developers, like Instagram, Vine, and Flipboard, Topps first built up a loyal following and healthy business on iOS, with over one million users collecting digital cards on the platform.
"We are excited to bring the thrill of the chase of digital collecting to Android users," said Michael Bramlage, Vice President and General Manager of Digital at Topps. "Our success on iOS is proof that this is a real phenomenon, and we fully expect to see the trend accelerate with coverage for more smartphones and devices."
As Topps expands BUNT, Android users can expect the same thrilling experience in collecting digital cards, trading with friends, and completing sets, just like with classic cards. But because it is digital, BUNT users enjoy innovative new twists, like live baseball statistics, real-time card rarity, limited-edition sales, and the ability to carry their entire card collection in their pockets.
The app launches with fun new features across both mobile platforms, including:
- Card Locks: have a super-rare digital card you won't trade? Lock your favorite cards into your collection to avoid annoying trade offers.
- Intuitive Trading: are you a high frequency trader? More intuitively build 9-to-9 trades to dominate the trading market.
"Topps BUNT 2014 has exceeded our expectations, consistently ranking in the Top 50 Grossing apps on the US iPhone, and peaking as high as #25," said Bramlage. "It's a healthy and growing business that is certain to expand with the move to Android."
Topps BUNT 2014 is officially licensed by MLB Advanced Media and by Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association's Player Choice group licensing program.
