TopSchool Leads CEO Panel on Career Services at APSCU Convention
Institutions Need to Actively Support Students Beyond the Academic Experience
DENVER, June 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- TopSchool, a leading SaaS provider of Student Lifecycle Management (SLM) solutions for higher education, is leading a thought provoking panel session at the 2012 APSCU Annual Convention where attendees will learn how to move beyond the role of career advisor to drive placement success.
The panel will bring an executive level perspective, helping attendees structure their career services organization, understand their audience, engage employers and students, and track results. Brian Stewart, President and CEO of Bryan College and Broadcast Center, and Guy Bell, Group Vice President of Brown Mackie and former CEO of Quest Education, will be sharing institutional insight, and Matthew Schnittman, CEO and Co-Founder of TopSchool, will moderate.
"The Associated Press recently ran an alarming headline that one in two new graduates are jobless or underemployed," said Schnittman. "While a weaker job market is partly to blame, colleges can help students by building relationships with potential employers, finding and tracking open positions and connecting students with job prospects. It is more important than ever for institutions to actively support students beyond the academic experience."
Graduates today are facing fewer jobs and more competition to acquire those jobs. Additionally, regulations such as Gainful Employment mean that schools are responsible for helping graduates secure a job where they can successfully repay their loans and avoid default. Session attendees will gain insight on the ways they can advance their career services operation and processes in order to meet federal regulations and support student success. After all, colleges and universities that can effectively leverage their placement results as a true differentiator will also likely strengthen student recruitment and retention.
TopSchool's session, "Advancing Career Services to Meet Compliance and Increase Your Value Proposition," is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 3:45 p.m. Additionally, attendees can visit with TopSchool in booth #601. The APSCU Annual Convention takes place in Las Vegas June 20-22, 2012.
