PORTLAND, Maine, April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tranzon Auction Properties is pleased to announce the sale of two Truck Stops in Portsmouth, NH.
"We're excited to offer these Seacoast NH institutions. I grew up in Portsmouth and Hanscom's has been around since before I was born," commented Mike Carey, Tranzon Vice President. "We've sold almost a 100 (gas) stations in the last few years, but none of them have Hanscom's history, legacy and business goodwill. This is a unique opportunity for a buyer."
Hired by Hanscom's Truck Stop, Tranzon Auction Properties will offer both the Northbound and Southbound locations at auction on May 21st.
"Buzzy and I have been looking at the long term outlook for many years and have come to the conclusion that it's time to break up the business," says Bob Neily, Controller for Hanscom's. "We decided auction is the best process for us – these are difficult properties to value and rather than pick a price, we're ready to go to market and listen to what buyers have to say."
"My contemporaries will agree – at some point you have to slow down. We're going to keep the wholesale business, the home heating business and a small gas station, but it's time I moved on from the truck stops," says Buzzy Hanscom, owner and Founder. "I've been doing this since 1964 and I've enjoyed the vast majority of it. We're not shutting down - just slowing down."
The southbound location consists of the Truck Stop, C-Store and Office Building located on Maplewood Avenue. The northbound location consists of the Truck Stop, C-Store and Gas Station and Diner.
