Hotels.com verified reviews show highest guest-rated Canadian and international hotels
TORONTO, June 25, 2014 /CNW/ - Bigger or more expensive isn't always better, at least when it comes to hotels favoured by travellers in Canada. With more than 11 million verified guest reviews, the travel experts at Hotels.com™ used their customer submissions to find the hotels with the highest overall rankings in the most popular domestic and international cities for Canadians.
"Guest reviews are a helpful resource for travellers and studies have shown 72 per cent of consumers trust them as much as personal recommendations," says Taylor L. Cole, APR, travel expert at Hotels.com. "Our reviews are verified and can only be submitted after the guest has completed their stay, so customers get genuine insights into the properties.
Interestingly, when travelling within Canada, smaller hotels rated higher than large-scale chains. Looking at the highest overall guest ranked property in popular cities throughout Canada, guests gave two bed and breakfasts, Auberge le Voyageur B&B in Mont-Tremblant and Suite Dreams Toronto Bed & Breakfast, the top spot with a perfect overall ranking of 5.0. This was closely followed by another QC-based property, Le Petit Hotel in Montreal with 4.9.

Out of the ten most popular international cities for Canadians, the two furthest destinations ranked highest alongside nearby New York City. The properties included: London's Haymarket Hotel, New York's The Maritime Hotel and Paris' Le Burgundy which tied with a solid 5.0. A close second was Chicago's Waldorf Astoria with 4.9.
