Trendsetter General Contractor RCC Associates Continues to Re-Define Mizner Park With Completion and Grand Opening of Innovative iPic Theaters®
BOCA RATON, Fla., May 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- With some 10 construction projects to its credit at Boca Raton's fashionable Mizner Park—including Tommy Bahama, ZED 451, Rack's, Kapow, Z Gallerie, Yard House and Uncle Julio's to name a few—leading edge general contractor RCC Associates was the logical choice to again play a role in re-shaping the future for this highly popular Boca Raton lifestyle destination.
Having tackled dozens of buildout projects for top international retailers, multi-million dollar renovations for historic art deco hotels on South Beach and complicated and elaborate construction for elegant eateries around the country, RCC's wide ranging skill proved to be a good choice to build a state-of-the art iPic Theaters location at Mizner Park, which opened last week to much public fanfare.
"The inside of the theater, for example, is designed like a luxury hotel lobby, something we have built numerous times for clients in the hospitality industry," said RCC President Beverly Raphael. "The interior has more than 200 material and flooring applications, which incorporates the lobby, a restaurant and lounge on the first floor, a 28,000 square foot eight-auditorium theater and Grab and Go food area on the second level."
"This theater is nothing short of spectacular. It was a big job and one of the most challenging we've ever worked on. We had three of our project managers and three superintendents assigned full time and delivered the job on time."
Raphael said construction began with gutting the existing building last October. Other special construction features included creating a dramatic entrance with a modern exterior combining wood paneling from Spain with metal panels and glass, construction of a 10,000-square-foot restaurant with outdoor seating, which will front on Federal Highway, and a lounge with walls made from driftwood.
Boca Raton Mayor Susan Whelchel called the iPic theater project "a game changer" for Mizner Park, an upscale lifestyle center in downtown Boca Raton that opened in 1991. A mixed-use development, Mizner Park has 40-plus stores and services mixed with rental apartments and offices. The Centre for the Arts, which is comprised of an amphitheatre and the Boca Raton Museum of Art, is located on the north end of Mizner Park.
The 43,000 square foot Mizner Park iPic destination offers eight screens with a range of 40 to 82 seats per auditorium, with premium, leather recliner assigned seats and food and beverage service at the seat before the show and pillows with blankets upon request.
IPic's opening last week was much anticipated by Mizner Park, which has been without a movie theater since Mizner Park Cinema closed in January 2011. IPic's Tanzy restaurant, located on the first floor level, is scheduled to open May 14th.
