Trent InternationalE Phoenix Wins Private Independent State Championship
HOUSTON and SUGAR LAND, Texas, March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Phoenix Boys Basketball Team at Trent InternationalE School in Sugar Land, Texas traveled to Dallas last weekend to compete in the Private Independent State Championship. The Trent InternationalE Phoenix basketball team, the first Texas High School to be fully sponsored by Under Armour, defeated the number-one seed.
The tournament featured top-ranked independent teams in the state. The opposing team started off early with an 8-0 lead but the Phoenix went into half-time with a five point lead. With the lead changing six times, center Aly Mohamed, a senior at Trent, took matters into his own hands scoring ten straight points to lead Trent InternationalE School to the state championship win with the final score of 54-51.
Qua Doster led the way with 17 points, while Ahmed Hamdy scored 16 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks. Tournament MVP Aly Mohamed added 17 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists, leading Trent InternationalE School to victory over the number-one seeded in Texas.
Trent InternationalE School's Phoenix team members are: Mohammad Mofakham, Aly Mohamed, Ahmed Hamdy, Qua Doster, Dominique Miles, Soheil Yousefi, Jonathan Frazier, Michael Lyle, Seth Rogers, Edgaras Kvedaravicius and Kaylim Doster.
