Trinity Health Implements White Plume's ePASS to Optimize Charge Capture
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., March 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Trinity Health, a nationally recognized leader ("Most Wired Hospital") for leveraging healthcare IT to maximize quality and safety has implemented White Plume's' ePASS product suite to optimize their complex charge capture and coding review process.
Thomas Warsocki, FACHE, Vice President of Physician Operations praised the installation, "Due to the preparation on the front end from Trinity Health Staff and White Plume, the go-live has been a non-event. It just happened. It went that smoothly."
Trinity Health installed AccelaSCAN, AccelaCAPTURE, AccelaPASS charge passing, and AccelaSMART. Physicians chose the charge capture method that works best for the way they practice. Whether charges are captured directly from Cerner EHR, on an electronic superbill or a scannable superbill, all charges route through AccelaSMART.
AccelaSMART, an intelligent, customizable, denial prevention engine ensures all charges are captured and ready for "first pass pay" claims submission. Trinity Health deploys AccelaSMART to mine for revenue, address coding disparities across payors and establish a closed loop denial prevention process.
Trinity Health expects to reduce days in AR by 40%, improve lag time by 80%, streamline workflow and reduce the need for additional charge entry staff. Renda Wilson, Physician Services Director, said, "We recognized the need for a more streamlined, and efficient billing process. From the time the patient is seen to the time the bill is dropped, White Plume has greatly improved the entire process."
The forward-thinking staff of Trinity Health recognized the need to plan for the conversion to ICD-10. The paper superbill is a simple and productive tool for physicians, but ICD-10 threatens the paper superbill and physician muscle memory. White Plume's solutions help Trinity Health re-think their charge capture process, while preserving physician productivity, and revenue cycle efficiency. Trinity's Business Services Director, Rhonda Johnson, said, "We are impressed by how White Plume is prepared and ready to handle the transition to ICD-10, especially from the physician's point of view."
White Plume CEO Don Menendez commented about the partnership, "We are thrilled to be working with Trinity Health. Large multi-specialty organizations with complex reimbursement processes require flexible solutions to work with their existing EHR and PM systems. We help fill the gaps that often occur in clinical and billing workflows. Our top priority is helping clients identify and prevent potential errors on the front end of the revenue cycle."
